The clouds rolled in, but so did Colter Wall tickets. That’s a fair trade.

We’re sending two lucky winners to Petco Park – one for 2/20, one for 2/21 – for a night of frontier folk, prairie grit, and that deep-ass voice that sounds like it’s been through some things. Colter doesn’t tour often. When he does, people cross state lines for it.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • Shoegaze and dream-pop heads: your May plans just locked in. Trauma Ray, Glixen, KEEP, and MONEY hit Soda Bar on 5/10, and this lineup is the good kind of loud.

  • This is very not a drill: Black Coffee is playing San Diego for the first time ever (at The Rady Shell, no less). We already hopped on presale, and you should too.

  • Sure Fire Soul Ensemble brings the funk-jazz glow to Lou Lou’s on 5/30, with Davina Jasso on vocals. Hometown shows don’t stay available for long… move accordingly.

  • If you're skipping the prix fixe dinners this Valentine’s Day, here’s the alternative: The Loons, Pat Todd, and Hector Penalosa at Casbah. Loud, fast, and way more fun.

  • Also just announced: The Red Pears, Together Pangea, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Cypress Hill, Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Coyote, and more.

FREE EVENTS FRIDAY

Not everything fun has to cost $48 and a service fee. We pulled together a list of actually good, actually free events happening around San Diego — no drink minimums, no guilt. Go see what’s out there.

TON - R&B ONLY

LOCALS ONLY

  • This one’s for the ones who scream-sang “Nonsense” on the freeway. A Sabrina Carpenter-inspired fan bar opens 2/5 with dreamy drinks, a themed brunch, and drag shows.

  • Real talk, you could use a break from your screen. On 1/31, Kanso’s Here & Now takes over JuneShine Ranch for a lowkey phone-free gathering. It’s relaxed, it’s intentional, and it’s got hard kombucha.
