Happy Friday!! I feel like we’ve earned this one. another sunny weekend ahead, and I’m already in the mood to romanticize it a little. Also… April is basically here (my birth month, thank you for asking), so I’m in planning-ahead mode.

Starting with this: we’re giving away tickets to La Jolla Concours d’Elegance on 4/26 at La Jolla Cove. Rows of stunning, kind of over-the-top beautiful cars right by the ocean. Enter to win and give yourself something fun to look forward to.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • If you’re even a little into funk or jam, you’ve probably crossed paths with Lettuce. The Cook Tour hits Belly Up on 9/11 – expect a set that leans heavy on live improvisation over anything overly polished. Tickets are live!

  • Another iconic band was just thrown in the mix! Not every band from that era still has this kind of pull, but San Diego shows up for Weezer. Catch them at Viejas Arena for The Gathering on 10/12.

  • It’s not fireworks, it’s not a concert, it’s somewhere in between – DroneArt Show has drones sketching flowers and constellations over Chula Vista while classical musicians score the whole thing live next weekend.*

  • Chelsea Handler hits Balboa Theatre 9/19 with the High And Mighty Tour, which is basically her doing what she’s been leaning into lately – still blunt, still funny, just less produced.

  • Plus, other just-announced shows where that came from!

If your budget’s been quietly deciding your plans lately, this helps – there’s a running list of free events around San Diego that aren’t just filler, it’s real things people actually show up to.

LOCALS ONLY

  • Chance’s Coffee is doing a dog adoption pop-up this Sunday with Mutt Scouts, so the usual coffee run might turn into you sitting on the ground for 20 minutes making eye contact with a dog you weren’t planning on adopting.

  • San Diego doesn’t work without the people who show up for each other – and tomorrow is one of those moments. If you’re looking for ways to stay informed or help someone else, here’s a list of local immigration resources. Read it, share it, and lead with love.
