Happy Friday, friends!
UGHHHH. If you read yesterday's newsletter, you may have caught that I said Juneteenth is next Thursday. Which is embarrassing because it’s next Friday... I know this. You know this. My calendar knows this. Yet somehow we all had to go through that together. SORRY!
So let me correct the record: Juneteenth is NEXT FRIDAY. 6/19. Don't let some random girl with a newsletter tell you otherwise! The good news is that the celebrations have already started and will continue throughout the week and next weekend.
And while we're on the topic of celebrating black excellence, June is also Black Music Month. Thankfully, I happen to have a pretty good Black Music Month recommendation (and treat) for you. Enter to win tickets to see Khalid at Cal Coast on 6/22.*
JUST ANNOUNCED
Not to stereotype, but the crowd at this show is going to have excellent taste in music. Catch Hot Flash Heat Wave and Small Crush at Casbah on 9/12.
Peter Bjorn and John's Writer's Block turns 20 this year. If that sentence just aged you dramatically, you're not alone. Catch the anniversary tour at Music Box on 10/16.
Imagine being responsible for one of the greatest catalogs in rock history and still being curious enough to keep exploring new sounds. Robert Plant heads to Humphrey's on 9/28 and he’s bringing friends.
Boy Harsher is headed to The Sound on 10/17. Consider this a public service announcement for the hot goth community.
Plus other just-announced shows from Kishi Bashi, Zach Top, Last Dinosaurs, Jesse Roper, Tim, Kasher, and more!
LOCAL’S LIST: WHERE TO GET SOME ZAAAAA IN SAN DIEGO, ACCORDING TO JAKE SKOLNICK
San Diego may be a taco town, but we need to talk about the pizza.
This week’s Local’s List comes from Jake Skolnick – talent buyer for The Holding Company and The Tipsy Crow, owner of Mannequin Vanity Records, and a touring musician who has eaten his way through enough slices to have very real opinions.
After years of playing, booking, touring, and spending time in New York, Jake is giving San Diego pizza its moment with his favorite spots around town.

LOCALS ONLY
This is my final reminder, because the show is literally tomorrow: Slightly Stoopid, Sublime, and a stacked lineup are taking over Petco Park. Local bonus points: my friends in Band of Gringos and Boostive are opening, and both bands absolutely rip.*
Remember when everyone collectively lost their minds over paid parking in Balboa Park? Good news: City Council voted unanimously to scrap it by January 2027. See what happens when we speak up!
