What a weekend to kick off summer. It's the first weekend of Pride Month and, if you ask me, there's something so right about queer people kicking off summer with events rooted in community and radical joy.

A LOCAL MUSIC GUIDE FROM THE REAL LISTEN LOCAL HERSELF

This week’s Local’s List started with me accidentally entering my imposter era.

I had been using “Listen Local” as a tagline for our local music guides, thinking I was just hyping up San Diego artists. Then Cathryn Beeks kindly popped into my inbox to let me know that Listen Local is actually her long-running San Diego music brand.

Sooooooo fair – this girl boss has been doing the work since 2003.

Once I learned more about Cathryn and everything she’s built for the local music community, I knew she had to be part of this series. So instead of a branding beef, we went full enemies-to-lovers and teamed up to do the thing we both actually care about: amplifying San Diego’s local music scene.
