Such a good weekend. I fully checked out, sat in the sun for way too long, and let myself pretend it’s summer already. Now we’re somehow on the last stretch of March, and Monday showed up right on time.
Mondays are usually whatever, but they’re easier when there’s something coming up.
Like this – DroneArt Show in Chula Vista this weekend. We’ve got a pair of Friday tickets to send someone to watch a sky full of drones move in sync with live classical music. Not a bad way to end the week. Enter to win!*
JUST ANNOUNCED
Dust off your old college playlists (ok for me, it was high school). Muse, Portugal. The Man and The Temper Trap are all landing at North Island on 8/29. Tickets go on sale Friday!
Dermot Kennedy has a way of making big rooms feel weirdly personal – like he’s still busking but just louder now. He’s at Cal Coast on 10/22, with Jonah Kagen opening in that same stripped-back, heavy-on-lyrics lane.
He’ll go from whispering at the piano to absolutely belting in like two seconds flat – that switch is kind of his whole thing. Benson Boone’s bringing his energy to Pechanga on 8/15. Grab your tickets before the Gen Z’s beat ya!
Think less “songs you know,” more “what happens when four lifers start playing together.” Scofield, Oteil Burbridge, Larry Goldings, and Adam Deitch are linking up at Belly Up on 10/27 for two shows in one night!
Plus other just announced shows from Weezer, Grupo Frontera, The Roots, Leftover Crack, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Bahamas, and more!
APRIL TOP PICKS: EVENTS, CONCERTS, FESTIVALS, & MORE!
April’s when San Diego wakes back up a little. Longer days, warmer nights, suddenly there’s something to do every single weekend (and midweek, if we’re being honest). Festival season’s creeping in, and the calendar’s already stacked – we pulled everything worth knowing about into one place. Hibernation’s over.

Really beautiful ceremony this weekend honoring Pablo Smith. If you grew up around surf or skate in San Diego, you knew the impact—he founded Soul Grind back in ’93 and built something that actually meant a lot to people. RIP to a real one.
San Diegans take care of their own, and there’s a real need for that right now. New CalFresh (SNAP) changes coming in this year will affect thousands of families locally, and the Food Bank is preparing. Help by donating to the community.
