We all say “life is short” and then proceed to ignore it. Quick reality check: if you’re lucky, you get about 4,000 weekends total. That’s the whole run. And sure – some of those are for rotting and resetting. Fully support that. But if you’re out here saying “there’s nothing to do in San Diego”… be serious.
I spend an unreasonable amount of time knowing what’s going on in this city, so if you ever need recs, just hit reply. I’ve got you. Mean it!
Or, start here: do something fun and feel like a good person while you’re at it. P!NK is taking over Petco Park for Curebound’s Concert for Cures on 5/15 – a huge night of music raising money for cancer research.
Win a pair of tickets and go do something that actually matters.
JUST ANNOUNCED
It’s rare you get a lineup that tracks so cleanly across eras – Armor For Sleep bringing the 2000s emo legacy, Spanish Love Songs expanding that energy, and Flycatcher as the fresh face – 6/27 at HOB if you want the whole timeline.
If you know, you know with Julieta Venegas – Latin Grammy wins, years of quietly shaping alt-pop in Spanish. Now she’s bringing that whole catalog to Cal Coast on 10/3.
Have you ever wanted to see where psychobilly and old-school rockabilly overlap? This is pretty much it: Reverend Horton Heat and Big Sandy sharing a Belly Up stage on 7/19.
PLUS: just announced shows from The Beach Boys, The Mother Hips, $UICIDEBOY$, Shoreline Mafia, and more!
SAN DIEGO’S BEST PARKS
As you guys know: I’m a big believer in touching grass. And yet… what happened to going to parks?
When was the last time you just showed up somewhere, sat down, and existed for a bit? No plan, no reason other than it being nice outside.
With Earth Day next week, this feels like a good time to remember we live in San Diego. It’s kind of ridiculously beautiful here – we should probably act like it.
So we made you a guide to the city’s best parks. Go hang out in one for a while.

THIS WEEKEND
SAT - CYPRESS HILL, TECH N9NE, BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY, COYOTE, UNCONVENTIONAL KINGZ at PETCO PARK SAT - CHEERS TO THE VALLEY WINE FESTIVAL at RAMONA SAT - SD FIGHT NIGHT at FRONTWAVE ARENA SUN - WORLDBEAT CENTER’S 34TH ANNUAL GLOBAL EARTH DAY FESTIVAL at WORLDBEAT CENTER (free) SUN - DAY AT THE DOCKS 2026 at SPORTFISHING LANDINGS (free) |

News. Without Motives. That’s 1440
“I don’t watch traditional news channels and haven’t in years. They don’t report the news but create it. I was tired of not being in the know, and then I found 1440. Finally, an unbiased news source!” Join 1440. All your news. None of the bias.*
LOCALS ONLY
Earth Day is next week… but we’re obviously not limiting it to one day. San Diego County Parks & Rec has a full lineup – cleanups, hikes, volunteer stuff all month. Check their post, pick a day, and (again) go touch grass.
ICYMI: The Padres have sold out every home game so far. So it’s a good time to remind you to plan ahead if you're considering going to a game, especially a Party in the Park game.

How many times did I say touch grass in this newsletter?
…. that’s enough from me.
