I hung out with my friends last night, and we got to that level of talking where it’s like… wait, we’re kind of cooking. At one point someone said “we should literally have a podcast” and instead of shutting it down we all paused like… wait.
Which is how you know it’s gotten out of hand…

JUST ANNOUNCED

• Don West is very much for people who had a Brent Faiyaz phase but came out of it wanting something a little less… curated. If you’ve heard “Small Change” you know what I mean. He’s playing Belly Up on 9/25.

• Not to be dramatic but Pearl is very much doing it for the girls right now. It’s that messy, unpredictable energy – and in a male-heavy genre, she stands out without trying. She’s at House of Blues on 6/12, and I wouldn’t plan on standing still.

• Santigold walked so many of the current alt-pop artists could run, and I stand by that. She’s coming through Humphrey’s 7/29, which feels like a very San Diego way to experience that (by the water, drink in hand).

New month, new excuse to be cultured for free. April’s lineup of free museum days is out, which means you can wander through Balboa Park (and more), pretend you’ve always been into this kind of thing, and not spend $20+ doing it.
