Daily Email - Tuesday - 5/12/2026

Hey pretty people. Hope your week’s been relatively gentle so far. We’re officially inching toward June now and I can literally feel my mood improving with every extra minute of daylight. One thing about me? I’m a summer person BAD. Like spiritually. Emotionally. Financially. Summer is where I thrive. (Fall too. I contain multitudes.)

And honestly, I think San Diego starts thriving this time of year too. Everybody suddenly remembers joy exists again.

So let’s give you something extra fun to look forward to: OUTLOUD Music Festival is taking over West Hollywood Park June 5–7 for WeHo Pride Weekend with The Pussycat Dolls, JADE, Ava Max, Ashlee Simpson, Jess Glynne & more. We’re sending one winner out there with VIP tickets, hotel stay, AND $600 travel credit. Better access, better setup, no logistical suffering required.

Enter to win!*

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • Slow Pulp started as college friends making music together in Wisconsin and somehow evolved into one of the best indie bands doing it atm! Catch them at Quartyard on 10/30.

  • San Diego’s own Switchfoot brings the Forever Now Tour to The Sound on 10/24. Adding Anberlin to the same bill feels a little manipulative toward millennials, specifically! Tickets are live Friday, and you already know half the city has set their alarms…so don’t wait!

  • MUNA songs sound like they were written after an emotionally complicated night out (been there), which is probably why so many people connect to them. Catch the trio bringing the Gets So Hot Tour to The Rady Shell on 10/16.

  • There’s a whole generation of artists who grew up online, and Glaive somehow turned that experience into an actual sound. Hyperpop, emo, internet burnout, oversharing – it’ll all be there live at The Observatory on 10/18.

  • ICYMI: other just announced shows from Carl Craig, Jimbo James, Beard & Stache, Mom Jeans, Blunt., Tijuana No, and more!

WE LOVE MUSIC, YES WE DO. WE LOVE MUSIC AND WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU!

Here’s the thing: I spend all week throwing concerts, events, and things to do at you guys, but I think it’s time we connect on a higher frequency. Literally.

One thing about me? I’m gonna share music I love. It’s a love language.

So, the DoSoCal team and I are officially starting our weekly “What We’re Listening To” playlists. New music, old favorites, local artists, random songs ruining our lives emotionally… all of it.

And, if you follow me on Spotify, I’ll start dropping even more playlists soon. Beach music, local music, windows-down-at-golden-hour music… just give me a second to cook.

GO GET WEIRD IN THE DESERT

Joshua Tree Music Festival is the kind of festival that makes you forget your phone exists for a while. Four days of music, art, workshops, late-night dance floors, and genuinely good energy return to Joshua Tree Lake Campground this Thursday–Sunday.

The lineup jumps between funk, electronic, hip-hop, world music, psychedelic sounds & more – aka the perfect setup for accidentally discovering your new favorite artist at 1am in the desert.*

LOCALS ONLY

  • Downtown San Diego’s finally getting a new roller skating rink sometime this year, and the local skate community deserves this win badly.

  • CH Projects is opening a new Coronado hotel on Thursday! The Baby Grand has tropical wallpaper, oxblood trim, a hidden oyster bar, and a Greek restaurant built into rock formations. Get the sneak peek!
