Daily Email - Wednesday - 10/28/2026

WTF WEDNESDAY!!! I’m considering making that the official name because why does the weirdest shit always happen to me on Wednesdays???

This morning’s episode involved a truly unnecessary amount of car drama from the little car I’ve been driving since I got my license (16). She is old. She is brave. She has seen things. But she’s still grooving for now, so I’m choosing to believe this was one minor lapse and NOT the beginning of a financially devastating subplot.

Everything feels a little haunted this week. Halloween is days away, we’re still coming off the full moon, the planets are doing whatever the hell they’re doing + Election Day is next week. I am simply trying to make it to Friday with my vehicle and sanity intact.

Thankfully, I can control at least ONE future event on my calendar.

My bestie is obsessed with Ripe, so I will absolutely be at their Play The Game Fall Tour stop at Music Box on 12/3. And because apparently we should all be there together, I’ve got a pair of tickets for one of you, too. Enter to win!

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • I saw Gus Dapperton at some random small LA venue the NIGHT before my prom, almost 10 years ago. Now he’s playing SOMA on 3/31. Very cute full-circle moment for me.

  • There’s something satisfying about punk that sounds like your friends got together, got mad + accidentally wrote something great. The Linda Lindas feel like they could be my friends. See them at Music Box on 12/13.

  • Your February could probably use a room full of horns, just make sure you come ready to dance. Hot 8 Brass Band brings the party to Casbah on 2/24.

  • A room full of adults passionately singing They Might Be Giants songs sounds like exactly the kind of civic gathering we need. Join the movement at Belly Up on 3/9.

QUARTYARD KEEPS YOU ON YOUR TOES

Local bands? Yep. Big dance nights? Also yep. Random show you clicked on out of curiosity and suddenly care about way too much? Extremely possible.

Quartyard has always been one of my favorite examples of how weirdly broad San Diego’s music scene can be. I’ve seen some genuinely great local acts there and also some of my favorite DJs, all in the same outdoor East Village space.

That alone would make me tell you to keep an eye on their calendar.

The fact that we also have giveaways to a bunch of those shows is just us being helpful.*

LOCALS ONLY

  • A little Día de los Muertos special from Ageless Art Tattoo: free piercing service 11/1–11/2, up to two piercings. You just cover the jewelry.

  • Kettner Exchange is turning tomorrow into a little vinyl treasure hunt with local record vendors + DJs all night for its Halloween market on 10/29.

  • Need something creative to do in November? GOLD3NSPIRAL STUDIO has a fresh batch of workshops on deck, so go see what catches your eye. Browse the lineup!

Y’all have any EASY costume ideas for a circus-themed Halloween party? Asking for myself lmao.

Ok, I’ll get out of your hair now! LOVE Y’ALL!
